According to the Washington Post, Twitter has agreed to Elon Musk’s request for access to its “firehose” of internal data.

Musk’s proposed takeover of the social media platform has been slowed by a weeks-long battle over the proprietary data stream. Musk’s plan to buy and privatize Twitter has been fraught with controversy and chaos from the start. Musk has stated that he has the option to walk away from the purchase, which has recently hampered his efforts to fund the bid.

Musk’s attorney, Mike Ringler, previously stated that Twitter was “thwarting” requests for data on fake accounts and spammers. Meanwhile, some observers have accused Musk of attempting to “weasel out” of the Twitter deal by exploiting the issue of fake accounts.

According to a person familiar with the company’s thinking, the information could be provided as early as this week, implying that the conflict could be over now that Twitter has agreed to Musk’s demands.

Musk initially waived his right to inspect Twitter’s books before purchasing the company. However, the billionaire’s purchase agreement states that if he can prove that Twitter misled him, he can cancel the transaction.

Twitter released a statement on Monday that said: “Twitter has and will continue to cooperatively share information with Mr. Musk to consummate the transaction in accordance with the terms of the merger agreement.”

“We believe this agreement is in the best interest of all shareholders. We intend to close the transaction and enforce the merger agreement at the agreed price and terms,” the statement reads.
