Vivo’s flagship X series has developed a reputation for class-leading camera performance over the previous several years, to the point that the X70 Pro+ from last year was widely regarded as one of the greatest camera phones.

With a few modifications to the company’s unique gimbal stabilization system and a noticeable price increase (to Rs. 211,200), the X80 Pro picks up where its spiritual predecessor left off by including everything you would expect from a contemporary premium flagship.

This places it directly in competition with Samsung and Apple.

The X80 Pro fits the criteria for what you have come to expect from a high-end Android tablet when you take it out of its well-accessorized box—the wired headphones, fast charger, and case are relatively unusual in this price range.

The big 6.78-inch display comes with a wide glass-metal sandwich design that softly curves to the sides and gives the 9.1mm-thick/219g gadget a sumptuous, if rather slippery, hand-feel.

Turn it over, and a raised glass window that houses the camera modules takes up most of the back panel.

However, some people may find the odd design choices—three of the four lenses are contained within a circle, while the fourth, a periscope-style telephoto lens is relegated to an odd position below—polarizing.

Beyond this, the phone’s fit and finish can hardly be criticized. For enhanced security, there is Schott Xensation Up display protection and IP68 dust/water rating.
