PTA Requests CMOs to focus on problems
PTA issued a warning to the telecom companies a few days ago. The operators’ obligation; to offer subscribers with uninterrupted service is stated clearly in the licence terms, rules, and regulations. Cellular mobile operators (CMOs) have recently been under fire from PTA; for threatening to halt telecom services and using force Majeure; as a result of budgetary restrictions load shedding, and a requirement for a 100 percent cash margin.
On June 24, 2022, PTA collectively sent letters to Telenor, Jazz, and Ufone. It was requested of the CMOs in this letter that:
“They need to specifically point out the challenges in fulfilling the rollout responsibilities targets; as financial justifications are unjustified; since telecom operators regarded it a force majeure; outside the telecom industry’s control.”
A rate hike is in process by CMOs; because of current inflationary trends. The authority will kindly consider this suggestion. The operators added that they have always made an effort to adhere; to all requirements, guidelines, and laws related to their licences; including the requirement to provide the necessary standard of quality, network, and service availability.
