A recent rumour claims that Instagram is developing a function that would let users post content from other accounts. The firm has not yet made the repost option accessible to the general public, but it plans to start testing it with a select group of users soon.

According to a Meta spokesman, “We’re looking into the possibility of resharing posts in Feed — similar to how you can reshare in Stories — so users can share what resonates with them and original authors receive acknowledged for their work.” We anticipate conducting early research with a small sample size very soon.

The first person to notice the new function, according to the source, was social media specialist Matt Navarra, who published a screenshot of a new Reposts tab. It’s likely that this tab will compile people’s reposted content. The Repost option will be available on user profiles in addition to the Posts, Reels, and Tagged Photos sections, as seen in the illustration.

Reposts on Instagram will be viewable on your profile on the dedicated repost page as well as in the feeds of your followers, according to the graphic published by Navarra.

Users must use third-party applications because Instagram does not come with a built-in feature for reposting user content. Sharing workarounds would be less necessary if there was a repost option. Sharing a user’s post is already possible in your Story, but it is also possible on your feed right now. Instagram is aware that a lot of users “Share on Stories” and “Direct Message” their posts with friends. Making it simple to share content with others is now its new objective.
