Thanks to an upcoming update, Google Workspace discussions may become far more engaging.

Users of the Google Chat service may now make and use their own unique emoticons in their everyday communications, whether at home or in the office.

Now more than ever, chat software allows users the freedom to express themselves creatively through the use of emoji, whether they want to depict their favourite pet, their favourite workplace snack, or an inside joke that only they and their coworkers will understand.

One of the most requested features, according to Google, is the ability to use custom emojis, which is already available in competing online collaboration services like Slack.

In the web-based versions of Chat and Gmail, users can make their own emojis by clicking the “Create” button within the emoji selector. You can create your own emoji there, upload an image of your choice, give it a name, and then use it in Chat while sending or responding to messages.

Once generated, custom emojis submitted by coworkers can be viewed and used by everyone in an organization in Chat messages and comments. Unfortunately, when interacting with outsiders or guests, you won’t have access to your personalised emoji keyboard.

As an added precaution, administrators can designate emoji managers to review and remove any custom emojis that don’t comply with the company’s requirements before they’re distributed to employees.
On November 8, the ability to create and utilise custom emojis will become available to all Google Workspace clients, as well as older G Suite Basic and Business customers.

Just recently, an upgrade to Google Docs made it easier to find and insert emojis within text. Now all users have to do is input a “@” followed by the word, emotion, item, or whatever else they want to express to get a list of relevant emojis.
