Samsung Tizen OS expand global via new licencing partnerships
Samsung Electronics has partnered with Atmaca, HKC, and Tempo to bring Tizen OS to non-Samsung smart TVs.
This year, Bauhn, Linsar, Sunny, Vispera, and other TVs will be sold in Australia, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, Turkey, and the UK. This means that more people will be able to use Tizen, which is an open-source operating system for Samsung Smart TV.
At the 2021 Samsung Developer Conference (SDC), Samsung talked about its Tizen TV Platform Licensing plan.
For smart TVs, Tizen OS has some of the best smart features, tools for finding content, apps, and a modern user interface.
Samsung works with partners on content licencing and hardware optimization to enable Tizen OS.
These relationships enable many TV brands to access Samsung’s exclusive content while allowing Tizen to harness its increasing ecosystem to boost its offers. Key aspects of licenced TV brands include: 3
Samsung TV Plus allows customers to view hundreds of live channels, including entertainment, news, programmes, and sports for free.
Universal Guide allows fast browsing and discovery of all streaming app content, along with personalised suggestions, so users can spend more time viewing and less time searching.
Bixby is a voice assistant platform for smart TVs. Bixby can search, observe, and perform other tasks.
Since Samsung and the Linux Foundation put out the first version of Tizen OS in 2012, it has grown by leaps and bounds.
200 million people in 197 countries use Samsung Smart TVs powered by Tizen, and that number is anticipated to grow.
The Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, Yongjae Kim, said that “2022 has been a memorable year for Tizen OS as we celebrate its 10th anniversary and the very first Tizen-powered smart TVs available from other brands.”
“Starting with these new Tizen-powered smart TVs, we will continue to expand the licencing programme and introduce Tizen OS and its ecosystem to more products and brands around the world.”
