Google Pixel 8 could use Samsung’s ISOCELL GN2 sensor. The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are now rumoured to be the tech giant’s next offerings. Google’s next-generation flagship smartphones will reportedly enable staggered HDR (High Dynamic Range) functionality. Google’s next Pixel series phone is expected to include Samsung’s ISOCELL GN2 sensor with Staggered HDR capability. It could make use of Google’s third-generation Tensor SoC.

Kuba Wojciechowski (@Za Raczke) noticed references to the photography functions of the future Pixel 8 series smartphones codenamed “Shiba” and “Husky” in the Google Camera Go app. The tipster uploaded an image of the app’s internal source code, which includes staggered HDR compatibility for the forthcoming handsets. The staggered HDR functionality allows you to capture numerous frames with increased details in short, medium, and long exposures. According to the source, Google will update the primary camera on the forthcoming Pixel series handsets.

The current Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones employ ISOCELL GN1 sensors from Samsung. According to the newest rumour, the Pixel 8 versions will include Samsung’s ISOCELL GN2 with staggered HDR. The ISOCELL GN1 replacement features a 50-megapixel picture sensor and Smart ISO Pro for low-light photography. With four-pixel-binning technology, the 1/1.12-inch ISOCELL GN2 sensor can imitate a 2.8-micron pixel.

In September, Google released the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, which were powered by the second-generation Tensor G2 SoC. The Pixel 7 costs Rs. 59,999 in India, while the Pixel 7 Pro costs Rs. 84,999.

The Pixel 7 has a dual rear camera arrangement with a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel secondary sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens. The Pixel 7 Pro, on the other hand, has a triple rear camera arrangement that includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel secondary sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 48-megapixel telephoto lens with 30x Super Resolution Zoom and 5x optical zoom capabilities. Both phones sport a 10.8-megapixel front-facing camera.
