HTC unveil mix reality headset at CES 2023: may take Meta Quest

HTC unveil mix reality: The new headset, which will support virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), is expected to make its debut on January 5 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023. An HTC executive reportedly teased the launch but did not reveal much about it. It is rumoured to have a goggles-like design with front- and side-facing cameras. The upcoming device will compete with Oculus Rift models and Meta Quest products.

According to The Verge, citing Shen Ye, HTC’s global head of product, the company plans to unveil a new flagship all-in-one AR and VR headset on January 5 at CES. The headset will be redesigned. “It’s about taking all of these advances we’ve made in not only the design aspects, but also the technical aspects, and building it into something meaningful and appealing to consumers,” Ye is quoted as saying in the report.

The report also includes an image of the headset, which appears to be a goggles-style design. It appears to have front- and side-facing cameras, allowing for mixed reality. According to Ye, the headset is suitable for gaming, entertainment, exercise, and “even some of the more powerful use cases,” such as productivity and enterprise tools. It is said to have a battery life of two hours and to support controllers with six degrees of freedom and hand tracking.

HTC’s new mixed reality device appears to have the same design language as Meta’s Quest Pro, with outward-facing cameras. The $1,500 Quest Pro virtual and mixed reality headset was unveiled in October (roughly Rs. 1,23,400).

HTC’s new headset is expected to be an improvement over last year’s HTC Vive Flow. It was released in October and costs $499. (roughly Rs. 37,400). The foldable VR headset has dual cameras and works with the Vive app. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory.
