In the third quarter compared to the second, Facebook parent company Meta implemented more suggestions from its oversight board, the independent body reported on Wednesday.

During the three months that concluded on September 30, the oversight board received more than a quarter million requests from Facebook and Instagram users all across the world.

The firm established the panel of academics, legal professionals, and rights experts to make decisions on a select number of complex appeals involving content moderation, as well as to provide guidance on site policy.

Although its policy suggestions are not legally enforceable, Meta is nonetheless expected to respond to them, usually within 60 days.

The oversight board reported that 27% of its recommendations, as opposed to 21% the quarter before, were fully or largely carried out by Meta during the third quarter.

It suggested earlier this month that Meta update its approach exempting famous users from its rules, arguing that the practise favoured the powerful and permitted commercial interests to influence content selections.
