Google announced the first QPR2 beta last month, allowing Pixel users to test anticipated Pixel Drop features before they are deployed via an OTA update. Google is releasing the next beta update this week, which includes bug patches, new emoji, and other changes. This beta round is open to Pixel devices dating back to the Google Pixel 4A.

The new OS changes introduced with QPR2 Beta 2 include the most recent Unicode 15.0 with a slew of new emoji and a new Google Home icon under device controls. Meanwhile, the lava lamp effect on the media player has vanished.

This build fixes an issue that caused the system UI to crash on occasion.

A fault that caused the video camera to remain in slow-motion recording mode after switching back to normal video mode was also fixed.

As with any beta version of any OS, there are a few known flaws with the newest QPR2 build. When the device’s orientation is switched while in this window, recent applications is known to freeze.

After entering and exiting PiP (picture-in-picture) mode and altering the screen’s orientation, the “Settings” app may crash. Finally, a “null pointer exception” can cause the system UI to crash.
