WhatsApp new feature for Android will improve photo quality
WhatsApp is developing a new feature that allows users to exchange photos at their original quality without any reduction in order to improve the user experience.
According to WABetaInfo, a well-known WhatsApp feature tracker, the feature was discovered in the most recent release of WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.2.11.
To reduce server load and conserve space on users’ phones, all photos exchanged on WhatsApp are currently compressed.
However, this compression results in a loss of resolution, making the shared photographs useless. The new function, which will be accessible via a setting icon in the drawing tool header, will restore the image quality to its original state before sending the photos.
WhatsApp’s decision to add this feature is in response to increased competition from Telegram, which likewise compresses photographs by default but offers the option to share images at their original quality.
WhatsApp’s new feature, which has over two billion monthly active users, will be a game changer for individuals who use the messaging program to share high-quality photos.
It is currently unknown when WhatsApp intends to make this feature available to the general public. However, it is expected that it will first appear on the beta channel before being made available to all users.
