WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, continues to improve the user experience by releasing new upgrades and features to all of its versions—Android, iOS, and desktop.
If you’ve been missing out on the latest upgrades and additions to the instant messaging software, now’s the chance to catch up.
Some features are still in development and not yet available to all testers; others may gradually roll out to users in the next few weeks, while others are only available to beta testers.
If you are unable to use a certain feature, you must wait for a future app update to have access to it.
The following is a summary of the upgrades and new features.
WhatsApp has unveiled new status update functionality for both iOS and Android. On Status, this features a private audience selection, voice status, status reactions, status profile rings, and rich link previews.
The messaging app revealed in the Android 2.23.4.3 update that some beta testers will be able to send up to 100 photographs or videos to their loved ones.
Previously, users could only share up to 30 pieces of material; however, this restriction has been raised to 100.
Some beta testers who install the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.3.0.75 from the TestFlight app will also receive this update.
In a future app update, WhatsApp will also make it easy to read a transcription of voice notes if users are unable to listen to them. The 23.3.0.73 update brings this feature to iOS users.
Users who install the WhatsApp beta for the iOS 23.3.0.74 upgrade via the TestFlight app will be able to record videos hands-free.
WhatsApp is also developing the ability to schedule calls, which will help group members better arrange their calendars.
This feature is still in the works and will be included in a future version of the Android app.
The instant messaging app also rectified a problem with the emoji keyboard in Android, which sometimes seems transparent.
This is one of WhatsApp‘s most anticipated additions, as it will allow users to exchange photographs in their original resolution.
Users will be able to submit the compressed photo if they want to reduce storage space, but they can also send the original quality.
