Instagram‘s Threads made a significant impact on the social media scene in July by quickly amassing over 100 million users within a week. However, that initial buzz faded in the following months.
Meta’s Twitter rival app, Threads, is making a comeback as it rolls out new features like a web version, keyword search, voice posts, post editing, and more. It appears that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is delivering on the promise he made in July.
‘I’m highly confident that we’re going to be able to pour enough gasoline on this to help it grow.”
Furthermore, the app has brought in smaller features like the capability to follow updates in specific threads by tapping a bell icon, an easy way to mass-follow people mentioned in a post, and the ability to tag people’s Instagram accounts. Threads is set to receive further improvements, including the addition of polls.
Regarding Threads’ user base, Apptopia data shows that in October, it had approximately 33 million daily active users and 120 million monthly active users. This represents growth from the figures reported in July, which were around 25 million daily users and 100 million monthly users. Since its launch on July 6, the app has accumulated an impressive 260 million downloads, with September downloads nearly doubling those of August.
Despite its relatively small team of around 50 people, Threads has been pleasantly surprised by the high level of interest in the app. An employee noted that Meta is genuinely committed to ensuring Threads’ success.
To boost its success, Threads is being seamlessly integrated with Facebook and Instagram, two of the world’s most popular apps. This integration allows users to easily access Threads from their Instagram profiles, share Threads posts through Instagram direct messages, and now you can discover Threads promotions on the Instagram app’s feed through a compact carousel showcasing selected posts under the “Threads for You” section.
