Apple introduced the Dynamic Island feature for iPhones just last year, but it might be phased out soon.

The Dynamic Island feature was initially launched with the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max but was extended to all iPhones in the 15 series. It serves as a heads-up display on the homescreen, providing overlays for background apps such as music playback, clock timers, Uber ride details, and other information.

As per information from the tipster “Majin Bu,” Apple is reportedly considering replacing the Dynamic Island feature with a traditional punch-hole cutout for the iPhone 16 Pro models next year. This potential shift may be in response to mixed reviews, with some expressing concerns about the size of the cutout. If implemented, this change would mark a significant departure, considering the innovative use of pill-shaped cutouts, a design that several Android phone manufacturers have already adopted.

Apple May Drop the iPhone’s Dynamic Island Next Year

Contradictory information has emerged from other industry insiders. Analyst Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) contends that Dynamic Island will remain a fixture for some time. According to Young, all iPhone 16 models will retain Dynamic Island, and the primary display change will involve larger screens.

Regarding the iPhone 17 expected in 2025, Ross Young predicts that the standard models will align in size with the Pro models. This implies that both the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro will feature a 6.3-inch screen, while the larger iPhone 17 Plus and Pro Max will boast 6.9-inch displays.

He further mentions that the more affordable versions of the iPhone 17 will, at last, receive ProMotion 120Hz support, and the Dynamic Island feature will persist in that generation as well.
