Samsung Unveils AI Live Translate Call for Next-Gen Smartphones
In a bid to break down language barriers, Samsung Electronics, the global smartphone leader, has unveiled its latest innovation – the AI Live Translate Call.
The real-time translation service is set to be a key feature in the upcoming Galaxy S24, anticipated for an early 2024 launch. This move aligns with Samsung’s vision to provide users with a personal translation service on-demand, promising to usher in a new era of seamless communication.
“AI Live Translate Call will be providing our future Galaxy AI phone users a personal translation service whenever and wherever required,” stated Samsung Electronics in an official release.
The company envisions the Galaxy AI as a tool that will dissolve common barriers to social connections, making communication more accessible and productive.
Not to be left behind, SK Telecom, South Korea’s leading mobile operator, announced its entry into the real-time translation arena with an application named “A.” Pronounced “A dot,” the application is expected to be available later this year.
SK Telecom aims to enable its Korean customers to make phone calls with foreigners without the need to know their languages. Initially, the service will focus on translations between Korean and major dialects, including English, with plans to expand to more languages in the future.

Industry experts predict a fierce competition in the real-time translation service sector. “Samsung Electronics can offer real-time phone translation services through built-in software because it manufactures the phones,” said Leaders Index CEO Park Ju-gun. He emphasized that AI-powered features like real-time translation will become the next battleground, not only for smartphone producers but also for app developers.
SK Telecom, as a wireless operator, relies on third-party apps for its service, signaling a broader battleground where telecom companies and tech giants compete to provide cutting-edge AI features. Park Ju-gun anticipates that major smartphone players such as Apple and Google will soon follow suit in offering real-time translation services, further intensifying the competition in this rapidly evolving space.
As the race for innovation accelerates, consumers can look forward to a future where language is no longer a barrier, thanks to the integration of advanced AI technologies in everyday communication devices.
