At GITEX Global 2024, held in Dubai, Pakistan and Huawei showcased substantial advancements in the fields of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and information technology. This premier technology conference recognized Pakistan as the “Official Tech Destination of the Year” and highlighted Huawei’s state-of-the-art security solutions.

Pakistan’s influence was evident with the inauguration of the Pakistan Pavilion and the hosting of Pakistan Night. Sajjad Mustafa Syed, Chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), emphasized that the “Official Tech Destination of the Year” title reflects Pakistan’s thriving IT industry, which is set to boost its IT and ITeS export potential.

Huawei’s cybersecurity solutions
Huawei reaffirmed its leading position in cybersecurity with cutting-edge solutions demonstrated at the event. The company’s offerings, such as the Xinghe Intelligent Network Security and SASE Solution, showcased comprehensive protection across cloud, network, edge, and endpoint. The Huawei Cloud further provided seven-layered digital defense, while its OceanProtect Backup Storage introduced advanced ransomware safeguards and enhanced backup speeds.

Aloysius Cheang, Chief Security Officer for Huawei in the Middle East & Central Asia, noted that “Huawei’s intelligent security solutions enable industries to securely embrace the intelligence era.” P@SHA’s Senior Vice Chairman Muhammad Umair Nizam underscored the importance of Pakistan Night stating that “it reinforced strong ties between Pakistan and UAE in various tech sectors.”

Pakistan’s IT Sector
With over 80 Pakistani companies participating, GITEX Global 2024 is a pivotal platform for Pakistan’s IT sector to gain international exposure, potentially attracting investments and partnerships.
