Pakistan’s 3G/4G Network Expands with Over 138 Million Users

According to data released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the number of cellular subscribers in Pakistan rose from 193.098 million at the end of August 2024 to 193.346 million by the end of September.

The number of 3G and 4G users also saw an increase, growing from 137.920 million in August to 138.731 million by September.

The penetration of Next Generation Mobile Service (NGMS) increased slightly from 56.72 percent in August to 56.96 percent by the end of September, while cellular teledensity—the measure of mobile connections per 100 people—remained steady at 79 percent.

Jazz, one of the leading mobile operators, saw a decline in its 3G subscribers, dropping from 2.718 million in August to 2.443 million in September. However, its 4G user base grew from 48.843 million to 49.418 million over the same period.

Zong’s 3G subscribers also saw a small decrease, falling from 1.932 million in August to 1.912 million in September, while its 4G users increased from 37.627 million to 37.869 million.

Telenor’s 3G subscribers dropped from 1.519 million to 1.481 million, but its 4G users rose from 25.189 million in August to 25.399 million by September.

Ufone recorded a slight decrease in 3G users, going from 2.167 million in August to 2.143 million in September, while its 4G user base grew from 16.243 million to 16.368 million during the same period.
