YouTube has announced over a dozen new features aimed at enhancing the user experience for both viewers and creators across multiple platforms, including web, mobile, TV, and YouTube Music. These updates, driven by user feedback, focus on personalization, improved controls, and ease of use.

One of the standout additions is the ability to adjust playback speed in increments of 0.05, providing more precise control over video viewing compared to the previous 0.25 increments. The mobile app’s mini-player has also been upgraded, allowing users to resize and reposition it as they continue to browse, along with enhanced landscape browsing for iOS, which will feature larger thumbnails and text.

Playlist functionality has received notable improvements as well. Users can now collaborate on playlists by sharing a link or QR code, and customize playlists with AI-generated or personal thumbnails. Additionally, a new voting feature lets users and friends vote on playlist videos, adding an interactive component to the experience.

YouTube is also rolling out a Sleep Timer, previously available to Premium members, for all mobile users. This feature allows viewers to set a time limit to prevent videos from playing beyond a desired point. Community badges will be introduced, allowing users to earn rewards like top commenter or listener badges, visible under the “You” tab on mobile.

For TV viewers, YouTube has introduced an updated interface with a cinematic touch, alongside updates to Shorts and immersive previews on creator channel pages. These updates provide a more interactive experience without interrupting the content, allowing users to read comments or browse products while watching.
