Web Summit 2024, Europe’s largest annual tech conference, will be held in Lisbon this week. This year’s discussions will dive into the implications of Donald Trump’s potential return to the White House, focusing on its impact on technology and geopolitics.

High-ranking executives from tech giants like Apple, Microsoft, and Meta will join European lawmakers to discuss the future of artificial intelligence, social media regulations, and how Trump’s reelection might affect the tech landscape in Europe.

One of the notable attendees is John Adam, chief revenue officer at Aimsoftpro, a software development company with 70% of its workforce in Ukraine. Ukraine remains in conflict with Russia, and Trump has claimed he could end the war within 24 hours of resuming office. “There are mixed feelings,” Adam commented. “Trump’s approach seems focused on current conflict lines, which may not be favorable for Ukraine. Still, we hope for an end to the situation.”

Although Elon Musk is not expected at the event, his influence will be widely discussed. Musk’s support of Trump, his role in Ukraine through the satellite service Starlink, and his accomplishments with SpaceX have drawn global attention.

A dedicated panel will explore how Europe could rival SpaceX with an in-house project, while another panel will examine Musk’s impact on social media after his controversial leadership of X, formerly Twitter.
