Samsung to Launch XR Glasses at Galaxy S25 Event in January 2025

Samsung is set to unveil its highly anticipated XR (Extended Reality) glasses in prototype form at the Galaxy S25 launch event in January 2025, according to reports. However, these glasses will not be immediately available for purchase. Samsung plans to showcase the glasses in a teaser format, likely through a video or image, similar to how the Galaxy Ring was previewed at Unpacked earlier this year.

While the prototype will be unveiled in January, the finalized version of the XR glasses is expected to launch in the third quarter of 2025, possibly between July and September. This suggests that Samsung is following a strategy of teasing its products before their full release, building anticipation ahead of the official reveal.

The XR glasses are expected to weigh just 50g and look like standard eyeglasses. They will come with smart features, including AI integration, facial recognition (likely for payment purposes), gesture controls for navigation, and a payment function. Samsung has been developing the glasses in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm since February 2023, signaling its push into the augmented and virtual reality space.

In addition to the glasses, Samsung will also announce its XR software platform, which will power the smart glasses, by the end of this month. With this new development, Samsung aims to further expand its ecosystem into the XR technology market.
