WhatsApp has launched a new feature in its latest beta update (version 2.24.25.29), which sends reminder notifications for unread messages from important contacts.

This update is currently available for Android users enrolled in the Google Play Beta Program.

Previously, WhatsApp reminders only applied to status updates from frequently contacted individuals. Now, this new functionality ensures that users receive alerts for unread chat messages from their most active contacts, helping them stay connected.

The feature uses an internal algorithm to identify key contacts based on how often users interact with them. Notably, this data remains private and is not stored on WhatsApp’s servers. The contact list resets if the app is reinstalled.

According to WhatsApp, the feature aims to offer helpful and non-intrusive notifications, enhancing communication with essential contacts.

For now, the update is available to a limited number of beta testers, with plans for a wider release in the coming months. This improvement reflects WhatsApp’s continuous efforts to make the platform more user-friendly and reliable.
