Elon Musk’s X, formerly known as Twitter, has announced a sharp increase in the price of its Premium+ subscription, marking the highest hike since Musk took over the platform in 2022.

What Is X Premium+?

X Premium+ subscribers enjoy an ad-free experience across the platform, including timelines, replies, and profiles, providing a seamless and uninterrupted user experience.

New Subscription Prices

Starting December 21, the monthly fee for X Premium+ in the U.S. has risen by 37.5%, now costing $22 instead of $16. Annual plans have also jumped significantly from $168 to $229.

International markets have also been impacted. In the EU, prices climbed from EUR 16 to EUR 21 per month. Canadian subscribers now pay CAD 29, up from CAD 20, while Nigerian users saw the steepest rise—from NGN 7,300 to NGN 34,000 per month.

X states that the price adjustment aims to maintain the premium experience for subscribers.

Relief for Existing Subscribers

Current Premium+ users can breathe easy for now. They will continue paying the old rates until January 20, 2025, after which the new pricing will apply.

This bold move reflects X’s focus on enhancing its subscription model but could prompt users to reconsider their investment in the service.
