The Minister of State for Information Technology, Shaza Fatima, confirmed a significant disruption in internet services across Pakistan caused by a fault in the international submarine cable system, AAE-1.

The fault has affected approximately 1,000 gigabytes per second of data traffic, leading to a substantial slowdown in online connectivity nationwide.

To address the issue, authorities have rerouted 630 gigabytes per second of data through alternative pathways, with an additional 200 gigabytes per second expected to be redirected soon.

The IT Ministry assured citizens that efforts are being made to restore full connectivity at the earliest, and updates on progress will be provided regularly.
