Samsung to launch tri-fold smartphone in 2025
Samsung plans to debut its first tri-fold smartphone in the second half of 2025, following Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate, which launched in September last year.
According to reports from South Korea, Samsung’s initial production will be limited to fewer than 300,000 units due to the complex manufacturing process involved. Depending on demand, production capacity may increase in the future.
The upcoming tri-fold smartphone is expected to be the most expensive foldable in Samsung’s lineup. Unlike Huawei’s Mate XT, which leaves part of the screen exposed when folded, Samsung’s design will fully protect its screen when not in use, significantly enhancing durability.
The device will also feature a versatile folding mechanism, allowing users to customize display sizes. When unfolded to the left, the screen will measure 10.5 inches. Further unfolding to the right will extend the display to 12.4 inches, offering a tablet-like experience.
Samsung Display will supply the screens for this cutting-edge device, ensuring compatibility with the innovative design. However, the smartphone will not include an under-display camera, likely prioritizing durability over extra features.
Although no official launch date has been confirmed, details have emerged from insider sources. More information may surface during the launch of Samsung’s upcoming Z series foldable smartphones later this year.
