Telegram’s latest update brings exciting new features, including third-party account verification, NFT-based gifts, and enhanced message search filters.

The platform previously verified public figures and organizations directly. Now, Telegram has introduced third-party-powered account verification.

Organizations like food regulators or educational groups can authenticate accounts, with verified accounts displaying a unique logo instead of the traditional blue checkmark.

“This decentralized approach will reduce scams and misinformation, setting a new safety standard for social platforms,” Telegram stated in a blog post. To apply for verification, users or organizations must first undergo authentication and complete an application process. Verified organizations can manage their verifications via Telegram’s Bot API, similar to X (formerly Twitter).

Another notable feature is the ability to turn gifts into NFTs. Users can create NFT gifts with custom backgrounds and icons by purchasing Telegram Stars, either through the app or the Fragment site using a TON crypto wallet. These NFTs can be traded or sold on other platforms, though Telegram charges a fee for converting gifts into collectibles to cover blockchain costs.

Telegram continues to embrace cryptocurrency for monetization, previously using it for creator payments and in-app transactions for games and mini apps.

Additional updates include emoji reactions for service messages, such as someone joining a group, and advanced search filters for private chats, group chats, and channels.

These new features highlight Telegram’s commitment to innovation, user safety, and expanding its monetization capabilities.
