WhatsApp is rolling out a new privacy feature for iOS beta testers in Brazil, allowing users to control who can view their PIX key on their profile.

PIX keys are unique identifiers used in Brazil’s PIX payment system to link bank accounts with simple identifiers like phone numbers or email addresses. With this update, users can manage their PIX key visibility using four options:

  • Visible to everyone
  • Limited to selected contacts

  • Hidden from specific contacts
  • Hidden from all users

This feature provides users with enhanced flexibility and security when managing payment information. It aims to address concerns about unauthorised access and misuse of sensitive payment details, offering peace of mind to privacy-conscious users.

Currently, the feature is available only to a small group of beta testers. WhatsApp plans to expand the rollout to all users in Brazil soon. To try it out, beta testers must update their WhatsApp app via the TestFlight platform.

This update underscores WhatsApp’s commitment to user privacy and security, making it easier for users to control how their financial information is shared.
