WhatsApp is developing a new feature to integrate Meta AI directly into its app, starting with an optional home screen widget for Android devices. This widget will allow users to interact with Meta AI conveniently, as revealed in a preview screenshot.

The feature will only be available to users who already have access to Meta AI, a privilege currently limited to select countries and individuals. As a result, the widget will not be immediately accessible to everyone upon launch.

The widget consists of two interactive sections. The left side allows users to ask questions directly to Meta AI, while the right side enables photo sharing. Once a photo is shared, users can ask the AI to edit it, explain its content, or respond to specific queries about the image.

In addition to the widget, WhatsApp is also working on a dedicated tab for AI chats, which will be integrated into the app’s bottom navigation bar. Similar to the widget, this feature will only be available to those with Meta AI access.

Currently, these features are in beta testing, and it remains unclear when they will be widely rolled out. It could take weeks or even months before they reach all eligible users.
