Apple to launch ‘Confetti’ – A new iCloud invites service
Apple is preparing to introduce a new iCloud feature called “Confetti,” aimed at simplifying event invitations and RSVP management. Unlike the existing Calendar app, Confetti is expected to provide a more interactive and user-friendly experience. Reports indicate that the service could go live as early as this week.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Confetti will allow users to invite people to events such as parties, meetings, and gatherings in a more engaging way.
The feature is linked to iOS 18.3, which began rolling out to iPhone and iPad users last month. While Apple has been working on improvements to its Calendar app for years, the launch of Confetti marks a significant step forward in event planning.
Confetti is designed to help users track invite responses, showing who has accepted or declined. The service may also integrate with iCloud.com, making it accessible from the web.
Reports suggest that Confetti will leverage a new system in iOS 18 called GroupKit, which helps manage groups of people. Although GroupKit has been present since iOS 18.0, this will be its first use in an Apple app.
Additionally, Confetti could be a standalone app or may integrate with other Apple services like iMessage. It is expected to feature a more engaging and visually appealing design than the current Calendar app.
