WhatsApp to allow ‘view once’ media on linked devices
WhatsApp is enhancing user privacy by testing a new feature that allows users to open “view once” media on linked devices.
As part of the Meta-owned app’s ongoing privacy improvements, this update aims to provide greater flexibility while maintaining security.
Currently available on WhatsApp Android beta version 2.25.3.7, the “view once” feature enables users to share photos, videos, and voice messages that disappear after being opened. This ensures an added layer of security, as recipients cannot save, copy, or forward the media.
Previously, users were unable to view or send “view once” media on linked devices. However, with this latest update, WhatsApp has expanded this functionality to desktops and additional devices, improving accessibility and convenience.
This enhancement allows users to view “view once” media without switching back to their primary device, making the feature more practical for those who use multiple devices throughout the day.
Currently, the update is available to a limited number of testers via the Google Play Beta program, with a wider rollout expected soon.
