Pakistan has potential to attract tourists, Dutch Ambassador Wouter Plomp

Netherland’s Ambassador to Pakistan Wouter Plomp shared his opinion that Pakistan is a peaceful country and it has the potential to attract tourists all over the world.

Wouter Plomp talked to reporters during his unofficial visit to Khanpur. He said, “Pakistan is home to several cultural heritages of other faiths and countries along with eye-catching picturesque valleys.”

Plomp said that Pakistan is a peaceful country and can attract a great number of tourists all over the country. He added that Pakistan, especially Khanpur, is blessed with several cultural heritage sites of their faiths besides ecotourism.


He also praised Pakistani authorities for preserving tourists’ sites.

He also said that he had seen various areas of Pakistan but it was his first-ever visit to Khanpur.

Wouter Plomp visited Pakistan with his wife Henriette Plomp, some other family members and few embassy officials. The tour was hosted by Raja Shahab Sikandar, grandson of Raja Sikandar Zaman Khan. He guided the group about the history of Khanpur valley, its archaeological significance and beauty.

The group was first welcomed at the Nikra Bungalow, the residence of ex late politician. Wouter Plomp and his group were given Khanpuri red blood oranges.

In addition to this, they also visited Bhamala Archaeology Complex, the second to fifth century CE and showed interest in the history and conservation strategy for the world’s biggest Budha statue i.e. 1700 years old and 48 feet long.
