Over the course of a single day, two rare fireballs were spotted in the skies of North America.

A “once in a lifetime” meteor was seen shooting over Canada and the United States on Tuesday, according to the Weather Network.

Another meteor was seen over nearly the same area almost exactly 24 hours later.

Furthermore, the fiery meteors came from different parts of the sky.

The first object was visible in the night sky at 9:48 p.m. Central Time on Tuesday.

According to the American Meteor Society, witnesses first noticed the fireball about 25 miles north of Erwood in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.

The meteor then changed course for about five seconds, blazing towards the southwest.

It finally died just west of Fosston, Saskatchewan.

The spectacular event was also witnessed in neighbouring areas such as southern Manitoba, northern Saskatchewan, and North Dakota in the United States.

Then, at 9:47 p.m. CT on Wednesday, March 23, a second meteor was observed coming from a different point in space over the same areas.

Many users who witnessed the astronomical events expressed their awe on social media.

“A fireball this big and bright is extremely rare for a person to see,” said Scott Young, planetarium astronomer at the Manitoba Museum, to CBC Manitoba on Wednesday.

“If you spend your entire life as a devoted skywatcher, you might be lucky to see two. But, you know, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity “Young elaborated.

Meteors are rocky objects, sometimes made of ice, that blaze from space in the Earth’s atmosphere.

They frequently reach speeds of hundreds of thousands of miles per hour.
