WATCH VIDEO: Jaguar Hunts Crocodile By Swimming in the Most Sneaky Way.
Jaguars are notorious for being opportunistic hunters who would eat nearly everything that comes their way. Jaguars consume capybaras, deer, tortoises, iguanas, armadillos, fish, birds, and monkeys, to name a few. The bite of a jaguar is more powerful than that of any other great cat. Their teeth are strong enough to pierce crocodiles’ thick skin and turtles’ impenetrable shells. A video of a jaguar pursuing a crocodile has gone viral on social media.
The video on YouTube is exclusive National Geographic footage from a few years ago that has recently reappeared on social media. The video has been seen over 61 million times. In the backdrop of the film, Luke Dollar, a conservation scientist who helps oversee National Geographic’s Big Cats Initiative, can be heard narrating the hunt and explosive moment of predation.
When a jaguar pounces, it may only take one bite to get a meal. In the Pantanal wetlands of Brazil, a jaguar kills a caiman in this video. The male jaguar was spotted crossing the river in search of prey. The jaguar is spotted creeping along the riverbank after exiting the water. The jaguar stalks along the riverbank silently, so the two crocodiles across the river are aware of his presence.
The jaguar is swimming in the water so quietly that you can barely see him. When a caiman puts his back to the jaguar, he takes advantage of the situation and pounces. He then sinks his teeth into the reptile’s head until it dies, then removes his prey to eat.
