A woman who experienced sexual assault at the hands of her own father has bravely spoken up about the incident in the hope that it would assist others.
Aicha Dounia, a student, is 21 years old and resides in Dublin with her partner and their six-month-old child. Her life has changed dramatically since she was just a few years old.

After earlier telling gardas he thought of her as a “partner by night,” her father was sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2018 for repeated rape.

He admitted guilt to 21 sample offences at the Central Criminal Court, including rape, attempted rape, anal rape, and sexual assaults that occurred in Dublin and Leinster between January 2006 and December 2017.

Additionally, he admitted guilt to three counts of harming his daughter by violence between June 2016 and December 2017.

“Yet in saying this, the first time it happened has always stuck in my mind. I will never forget that invasive feeling, the confusion and feeling absolutely disturbed to my core.
