A 9-foot boa constrictor that was in a woman’s yard startled both her and her granddaughter.

In her Derby, New York, home, Cindy Schmitz remembered being at ease when she heard a neighbour scream.

“I didn’t know what was happening. I sprinted around the house’s side, and there it was. She told ABC affiliate WKBW-TV about the snake. “I was initially afraid. It was unlike anything I’d ever seen.

Normally found in Central and South America, boa constrictors had found their way to her front lawn.

Schmitz made a call to the Erie County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals as she and her neighbours attempted to contain the snake.
