Elephants’ biggest natural enemy is the lion. Because elephants are so big, lions don’t usually go after them as prey, but they can. The only animal that can kill an elephant is a lion. Elephants are big animals with a lot of meat, so if lions can catch one, they won’t have to hunt for a few days. But it’s not easy for the lionesses who attack for their pride to kill an elephant. This is why more than a dozen lionesses attacked this elephant at the same time to kill it for the pride.

Clement Ben caught the rare event on camera, and IFS officer Susanta Nanda posted the video to Twitter. He posted the video on Twitter with the words, “Lone tusker takes on 14 lionesses and wins… Who should be than king of forest?”  With over 246k views and 9,200 likes, the video has now gone viral.

In the video, lionesses attack an elephant on the bank of a river. After one lioness jumps on his back and bites him, a few more lionesses attack him. To get the hungry lionesses off of his back, the elephant spins around and goes into the water. When they try to get the elephant back, he charges at them and scares them off, even though he has fewer of them than they do.
