Britain is assembling a global team to prepare for the first contact with aliens.

Dr John Elliott is spearheading the effort to establish a global framework for receiving messages from extraterrestrials.

He stated, “Will we ever get a message from ET? We don’t know. We also don’t know when this is going to happen. But we do know that we cannot afford to be ill prepared – scientifically, socially and politically rudderless – for an event that could turn into reality.”

The Seti Post-Detection Hub, a new study unit, brings together legal, ethical, and philosophical experts from around the world.

The scientists are situated in St Andrews, near Fife, and have devised a strategy to lead humanity through the months after our first contact with intelligent alien beings.

It will address concerns such as how to handle them in accordance with legal and human rights standards.

Dr Elliott of St Andrews University has spent years exploring how to understand space signals. He intends to exploit the structure of communications to determine what information is included within them.

If the signal is received, it is likely that it will be received shortly, according to one alien specialist.

Michael A. Garrett of the University of Manchester stepped out ahead of a US Government study, saying that the world is getting closer to making its first contact with aliens and making “serious scientific discoveries” about them.

He feels that if “anything interesting” is out there, it will happen “pretty soon,” according to the report.
