The popular phrase was popularized by a man named Chaudhry Akhtar Lawa who is also a businessman and politician by profession. The catchphrase “Lahore da Pawa Akhtar Lawa” became popular on social media overnight and is accompanied by an action in which Akhtar Lawa Sahib is seen enthusiastically punching an unseen person in the stomach.

Akhtar Lawa says that when he said Lahore Da Pawa, he felt excited and empowered. Lahore da Pawa Akhtar Lawa means “Pillar of Lahore, Akhtar Lawa”, a pillar that supports the city of Lahore.

Also, the word “pawa” is commonly used in old city Lahore for “Sri Payah” and “Bong Payah”, and both dishes are considered part of the royal breakfast menu.
