Lionel Messi World Cup win is the most liked social media post now. Following a tremendously intense encounter between Argentina and France, the entire globe was affected by the Argentine footballer’s honest moments, from hugging his mother to photographing his wife Antonela. Messi’s Instagram photo of himself clutching the trophy and celebrating with his victorious teammates surpassed the ‘World Record Egg’ to become the platform’s most-liked post ever. Messi’s Instagram carousel of photographs has now broken another record.

According to the Daily Mail, it has now surpassed TikToker Bella Poarch as the most-liked social media post on any platform. Poarch, a Filipino-born American singer, established the record back in 2020 with a video of her lip-syncing to Millie B’s ‘M to the B’. At the time of writing, Messi’s Instagram post has received almost 67 million likes.

“CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD!!!!!!! 🌎🏆 So many times I dreamed it, so much I wanted it that I still don’t fall, I can’t believe it…… [sic]” Messi said in the post.

According to The Economic Times, it beat out Ronaldo’s iconic photo of the two of them playing chess. Messi’s shot with the FIFA World Cup trophy is the first in a series of images of the ecstatic Argentina team at the Lusail Stadium. The carousel not only knocked out Ronaldo’s post, but it also quickly became the most-liked photo on Instagram overall, surpassing Chris Godfrey’s ‘world record egg’.
