On social media, a magnificent time-lapse video of a night sky is going viral. Such videos are not uncommon, but photographer Eric Brummel has done something unusual that has captivated internet users. In the video, instead of the Milky Way galaxy travelling across the night sky, the Earth is moving. The clip, which was first created in 2020, is regaining popularity on the internet. This time, it was shared on Twitter by Buitengebieden and liked by almost 1.5 lakh people.

The photographer stated on Instagram that the video was recorded at Crater Lake National Park in the United States. Mr. Brummel stated that the video’s goal is to “help us visualise the Earth’s rotation.”

The video was created by the photographer using a star-tracker and his camera. The optical gadget turns the camera in the opposite direction as the Earth does. It has the optical effect of making the sky more stable.

The video has wowed Twitter users.

“Absolutely stunning.. just absolutely amazing what technology has done to teach us an educate us about a planet we’re destroying…. how could it be so wonderful and ugly at the same time,” one person said.

“Best thing I’ve seen all darn day,” said another.

“This is the kinda rare stuff more of us need in our lives…the simplicity and sheer splendor of the night sky in all its glory; a rarely tangible thing to bear witness to within the cities we live. What a brilliant gift to our eyes from this photographer” a third user stated

Buitengebieden’s video has been seen 3.2 million times.
