Man set a record by eating 18 Michelin-starred restaurants in one day. Eric isn’t one of those people who enjoy eating in restaurants, according to the Guinness World Records website. However, he realised the food opportunities he was missing when he left New York during the pandemic.

Later, in 2021, after returning to the city, he joined a discord food group and discovered this world record there. He claimed this in a statement to Guinness World Records: “I loved the idea. It combined my loves of eating interesting food, working towards a checklist, and working towards something silly.”

Eric had prepared for months and made reservations at several restaurants in order to win this title. Only 10 of the 80 restaurants he had contacted responded to his inquiries. Even among those 10, four eateries had their Michelin stars removed by 2022.

Eric started his official attempt on October 26, 2022, at the Le Pavillon in Midtown and moved on to different restaurants from there. Without tax or tips, the total cost of all of his meals was $494 (£409).

Eric encountered many restaurant owners who were supportive of his endeavour. As reported to Guinness World Records by the Noda manager, “I am a firm believer that the world is at a great deficit of capriciousness. It feeds a sense of novelty. As we go through life, the novelty begins to be far more scarce. I think participating in or creating a moment which has a genuine sense of novelty or a first-time experience to it has a tremendous amount of value.”

In addition to his most recent Guinness World Records accomplishment, Eric already holds two records in the sport of table tennis, which he played competitively. His previous records include the largest table tennis ball mosaic (29.12 m2 (313 ft2 6 in2)), which he shared with Ben Rizzo and Raaj Shah (both USA), and the longest table tennis serve (15.57 m (51 ft 1 in), both set in 2021.
