Watch: Karine Jean-Pierre accidentally called Joe Biden as “President Obama”
Karine Jean-Pierre, the press secretary for the White House, accidentally referred to US President Joe Biden as “President Obama.” During a press conference, Pierre made the error of calling the current President “President Obama,” which was caught on live television.
When Jean-Pierre announced that the president had chosen Ajay Banga, a former CEO of MasterCard, to lead the World Bank, she made a mistake.
“So, as you may have seen just an hour or so ago, President Obama announced that — excuse me, President Biden!” The White House press corps gasped and laughed as Kean-Pierre quickly corrected herself.
“Whoa! “Ahem, that’s news,” she explained. “I understand. We’re going backwards rather than forwards. We have to move forward.”

She continued, “The US nominated Ajay Banga to be president of the World Bank,” before announcing Joe Biden’s choice for the position. President Biden stated that he is ideally suited to head the World Bank because he is a well-known business executive who has run businesses that have invested in and created jobs in developing economies.
“He (Ajay Banga) has a track record of establishing public-private partnerships. “Having been raised in India, he has a unique perspective on the opportunities and challenges that developing countries face, as well as how the World Bank can deliver on its agenda for prosperity and poverty reduction,” she added.
In May 2022, Jean-Pierre was chosen to succeed Jen Psaki as press secretary. Biden has used Jean-Pierre as an advisor since he was Obama’s vice president.
