President-elect Joe Biden has warned “people may die” if his presidential administration will be impeded by Republican Donald Trump. 

He said while speaking in Delaware thatco-ordination was needed to tackle the coronavirus outbreak.

He called Trump’s refusal to concede election results “totally irresponsible”.

Aides to the Democratic president-elect have said that Mr. Trump’s refusal to engage in a transition also means Mr. Biden’s team has been excluded from planning around a vaccination distribution strategy.

Mr. Biden said in his speech about the stalled transition, “Does anyone understand this? It’s about saving lives, for real, this is not hyperbole.”

“More people may die if we don’t coordinate,” he added.

Mr. Biden called nationwide vaccine distribution a “huge, huge undertaking”. He said that if his team had to wait until 20 January – his presidential inauguration – until they could begin work on the distribution program, they would be behind by “over a month, month and a half”.

He was asked if he could encourage state leaders to reinstate stay-at-home orders. He called on officials to promote mask-wearing. 

Earlier, President-elect Joe Biden has said that Republican Donald Trump’s refusal to concede election results is “an embarrassment”.

However, Biden has assured that nothing would stop the transfer of power.
