US Election 2020: Pakistan looks forward to work with whoever wins the seat

The Foreign Office said Pakistan looked forward to working with anyone who wins the US Election 2020 as America went into era-defining polls to decide who will occupy the White House for the next four years.

“Pakistan looks forward to working with anyone who wins today,” Foreign Office spokesperson Zahid Chaudhri said, adding that the US election was an “internal matter” but that Pakistan conveyed its best wishes to Americans.

Prime Minister Imran finds similarities with Donald Trump

In an interview with a German magazine, Prime Minister Imran Khan had shared how he and US President Donald Trump have had to do “a lot of out-of-the-box thinking” in their respective political careers to reach the top.

PM Imran also shared his opinion on the American presidential candidates and whom he would prefer working with following the US Election 2020.

On the US elections and prospects of winning, PM Imran stressed that although Biden was in front in the opinion polls, Donald Trump was very unpredictable because, unlike normal politicians, “he plays by his own rules”.

The prime minister then recalled his long political struggle in Pakistan and how he tread his way to the office of the country’s prime minister.

Both Joe Biden and Donald Trump need 270 votes to become the next US president.

US Election – Initial Results

As per the initial results, Democrat Joe Biden’s Electoral Vote is 139 whereas Republican Trump’s votes are 116 so far.

Biden’s victory in Illinois won 20 electoral votes, CNN reported.

On the contrary, Trump also managed to get 6 votes from the state of Ottawa.

Donald Trump leads in Kansas State with 6 electoral votes, said US media.

Donald Trump is leading the votes in Florida with almost all votes counted.

But states such as Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, and North Carolina are toss-ups.

More than 100 million people cast their ballots in early voting before election day on Tuesday – setting the US on course for its highest turnout in a century.
