Alaska, the Arctic, Sweden, and Finland come to mind when thinking about seeing the northern lights, but Scotland is rarely mentioned.

Scotland is located at the same latitude as several of the world’s top northern light destinations, including Norway and Alaska, according to VisitScotland, the country’s official tourism organisation.

Following last week’s encounter with the northern lights, Twitter was swamped with stunning Aurora Boreas images.
