This is especially incredible for Jelaja Ratheesh, a 40-year-old Kerala lady who decided to drive a cargo lorry from Ernakulam district to Kashmir, her dream destination. When it comes to travelling, most people opt for a car or a motorcycle, but Jelaja’s choice of conveyance has both astonished and impressed netizens.

The journey is documented in videos that may be found on the internet. Vivid vistas and experiences greeted her as she travelled through Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab. She also stated that many people are surprised to see a woman behind the wheel of a freight vehicle.

The woman can be heard saying in the video, “I am going to witness the places seen in movies in real. It’s not in any bus or car, but a lorry. Those sights are indeed special and unfamiliar for us, women.”

She said, “People have been looking at me with wonder. It boosts my confidence. My confidence as a woman has increased.”

They hopped into another vehicle carrying onions after unloading plywood in Pune. In a phone conversation with indianexpress.com, she stated, “I was passionate about driving since childhood. However, circumstances were not favourable then. After marriage, I learnt driving.”

She added, “I have been to Mumbai twice on a lorry with my husband. As we got an order for Pune, we also enquired about loads to Kashmir from there. The journey was not expensive as we were carrying loads and sleeping inside the vehicle. At times, we cooked meals in the lorry.”

She went on to say that the ride was not long because, unlike in a car, one may sleep inside the lorry. Who is 40 years old, ” The most memorable part of our journey was the visit to Gulmarg. I couldn’t believe that it happened.”

The three brought plywood from Haryana to Bangalore, Karnataka, and then loads of sugar from Mysore to be dumped in Kerala on their way back.

Jelaja also expressed her desire to go by lorry to Tripura and Delhi. She has begun making preparations for the same with her family.
