When a university student in the UK went to the bathroom before a night out, but subsequently gave birth, everyone was utterly taken aback. Jess Davis, who turned 20 the day following her unexpected birth, was unaware that she was expecting and thought her stomach aches were related to her period.

Ms. Davis is a Bristol-based student studying politics and history, according to the Independent. She is presently enrolled in the University of Southampton’s second year. She had no telltale signs of pregnancy and no baby bump. She admitted that because of her erratic menstrual cycles, she was unaware that she hadn’t had one in a while.

After her kid was born on June 11, the 20-year-old is now adjusting to motherhood. He was about 3 kilograms. “When he was delivered, it was the biggest shock of my life — at first, I believed I was dreaming,” the new mother recalled.

When I heard him weep, I finally realized what had happened, Ms. Davis recalled. Added she, “I instantly realized that I need to mature more. It took some time for me to get over my initial shock, adjust, and bond with him, but right now I couldn’t be happier.”

According to the Independent, Ms. Davis also disclosed that she believed she was starting her period when she woke up in June 2022 in excruciating pain. She was unable to even lie down on her bed and could hardly walk.

She said, “I had a shower and a bath to try and make myself feel better, but the agony simply became worse and worse. I was going to have a home party that night for my birthday the next day.”

The 20-year-old claimed that she suddenly and intensely needed to use the restroom, so she sat down and began to push. She admitted, “I never thought I was delivering birth.

“But at one point I felt tearing, but I didn’t know what it was,” she added.

“I simply felt that I had to let everything out. It was simply so weird to hear him sob and then realize what had truly happened.”

Ms. Davis, who was at home alone and was unsure of what to do, called her best friend Liv King. Ms. King gave her the go-ahead to call an ambulance after Ms. Davis provided a picture of her newborn boy, despite the fact that she had initially believed that her friend was making up a story to get out of the planned night out.

The infant was hurried away to be placed in an incubator after Ms. Davis was brought to Princess Anne Hospital, according to the site. He was born, according to the physicians, at 35 weeks gestation. The physicians said that both the mother and the infant are presently making good progress.
