In a heartbreaking and strange crime, thieves in the Chinhat neighbourhood of Lucknow stole around Rs 17 lakh worth of chocolate bars from a warehouse. The bars were from a popular brand. A businessman named Rajendra Singh Siddhu owns the godown. In the city, he sells a chocolate brand made by a multinational company.

IANS said that the thieves took about 150 boxes of chocolate bars and a few boxes of cookies. Sidhu told the police in his FIR that he had recently moved out of his old house in Chinhat and into an apartment in Vibhuti Khand in Gomti Nagar.

Sidhu told the police that he was using his old house to store chocolates that were going to be given out. On Tuesday, a neighbour from Chinhat called him and told him that the door to his house was broken.
When he got to the house, he saw that there was nothing in the godown. The thieves also took the CCTVs’ digital video recorders.

As Siddhu told the police, “Another neighbour informed me that he heard a pick-up truck in the night and thought that I had come to take away some stock. It seems this truck was used by the miscreants to ferry the stolen stock.”

He said that the stock had come in a few days before and was supposed to be sent to stores in the city.
