We have all encountered perplexing puzzles and optical illusions involving counting interconnected geometric shapes. However, this one with triangles has left the majority of spectators perplexed.

Lenstore designed the puzzle to assess how well people can locate concealed shapes within shapes. According to experts, it has confused 99 per cent of British viewers.

Its description reads, “Isolating and understanding shapes are linked to our visual processing speed (the amount of time needed to make a correct judgment about visual stimulus).”

The puzzle is a component of Lenstore’s 10-question quiz. Each slide displays a shape and asks the audience how many instances of another shape are concealed within it.

Mirror reports that 1,000 participants were tested by Lenstore to see which age group is best at recognising hidden shapes. Intriguingly, only 0.6% of participants answered all 10 questions correctly, while over 5% got every question wrong.

“This finding mirrors previous research with older adults often finding difficulties with visual tasks in everyday life that involve time-sensitive responses and visual clutter. However computer-based training exercises such as these can increase visual processing speed in older adults which can improve your health,” explained Lenstore.

Men appeared to be marginally more adept than women at detecting hidden shapes, according to additional observations.
