At a shelter in Connecticut, a dog named Van Gogh, who only has one ear, is channelling the artistry of his namesake by using his tongue to create works of art.

According to the Happily Furever After Rescue, Van Gogh, a boxer-pit bull mix who is seven years old, was rescued from a dog fighting ring in North Carolina. He had sustained injuries to his ear that were so serious that they had to be amputated.

According to Jaclyn Gartner, the founder of the rescue organisation, she taught Vincent van Gogh to paint with his tongue by placing paint and canvas inside a plastic bag that had peanut butter spread on the outside of it.

Van Gogh had a gallery show for his artwork, but only two people showed up to view it. The rescue organisation was disappointed. Since then, images of his paintings have gone viral on the internet, which has resulted in approximately 30 of his works being auctioned for $40 each to aid the rescue.

The rescue organisation shared on Facebook that they are getting inquiries about adopting Van Gogh from people all around the world.

The rescue organisation wrote, “We’re currently working on a potential adoption for our special superstar so stay tuned.”
