Akasa Air flight attendant wearing sneakers rather than heels
It’s possible that you constantly picture formal attire with stiletto heels or lace-up formal shoes for males when you see a flight attendant’s uniform. Akasa Air, an airline founded by the late businessman Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, did something unexpected and is being praised online.
Why do you inquire? So, a photo of an Akasa Air flight attendant performing her duties while wearing sneakers has appeared online. The article was posted on LinkedIn, and the internet has praised the airline for its admirable initiative.
Diksha Mishra, a user on LinkedIn, posted the now-viral article. An image of an Akasa Air aircraft and an air hostess wearing sneakers was featured in the post. Together with her casual orange blouse and black flared leggings, the flight attendant was also spotted. Some online communities praised the attendant’s athleisure-inspired attire.
Read the caption of the post, “I recently took a flight from Akasa Air and was suprised but really happy to see a well deserved change. Attached is a picture showing how comfortable the air hostess is in her new uniform. No more killer heels to run the services. Absolute comfort and I am sure it was long pending for these humans. Congratulations Akasa Air on breaking the norms. Good luck for your operations in the aviation industry.”

Even Akasa Air acknowledged Diksha’s tweet and expressed gratitude in the comments.
“Thank you so much, Diksha! One of our core values is comfort. We believe that providing outstanding service requires a high level of comfort. We look forward to welcoming you on board soon,” wrote the airline.
India’s most recent airline to be established is Akasa Air. In July of last year, the unorthodox uniform’s initial appearance was revealed. “The uniform fit focuses on providing the best possible stretch to ensure employees’ comfort over their busy flight schedules. Given the mobile lifestyle of crew members and long hours spent standing, Vanilla Moon designed sneakers that are light, and contain extra cushioning from heel to toe to ensure better support. In line with Akasa Air’s approach towards sustainability, the sole of the sneakers is carved from recycled rubber and manufactured without any use of plastic,” Read a section of Akasa Air’s press release.
